Mental Health

Acupuncture is the oldest modality to address body-mind-spirit integration. It is a principle of Chinese medicine that unprocessed emotions are stored in the body and are a root cause of disease. Current research by leading trauma psychologists including Peter Levine and Bessel van der Kolk and the results of the CDC-Kaiser ACE Study have affirmed this theory. Even if we do not have memory of a specific event, our bodies can hold the unexpressed emotions from that experience or pattern of relating. This presents on a physical level as chronic pain and autoimmune disorders and on a mental level as anxiety, depression, ADD, and other psychological disorders.

Merging an ancient healing modality with new research in neuropsychology, trauma response and immunity.

Trauma is not what happened. It is the energy that gets locked in your body in response to a real or perceived threat.

Dr. Noemi is trained in the Worsley lineage of Five Element acupuncture which focuses on the connection between body, mind, and spirit. She also has training in Somatic Experiencing and facilitates the integration of the body into the processing of deeply held emotions through sensation and movement.

The beauty of this approach is that you don’t need to discuss the originating event or even have consciousness of it. You just need to have a willingness to be present with what comes up physically and emotionally.

Through the release of past experiences held deeply in the body, together we rewire your fight/flight/freeze response. This gives you more agency in your life and energy is freed to nourish the physical body, alleviating pain and facilitating healing.

Testimonials

I have struggled with bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety for over 20 years and have been on a cocktail of meds for nearly that long. I have also battled with alcohol abuse and compulsive eating. I came to Dr. Noemi with the hope of improving my sleep and digestion. Her approach to acupuncture was very different than other people I had been to and I could feel shifts in my mood immediately. I have been seeing her for 6 months and can say that I sleep better, have been able to stop drinking, maintain healthy habits, and – with the help of my doctor – have reduced my psychiatric medications significantly. I highly recommend Dr Noemi to anyone struggling with mental health issues or trying to find balance in their life.

She helps bring my system into a state of balance and serenity, which enables me to be my best self with my partner and kids. Additionally, the herbs and supplements she has prescribed have given me more energy and have helped me to regulate hormonal changes with ease. Dr. Noemi is a trusted resource for my physical and mental well-being.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and tried many things to reduce my pain, but nothing made much difference until I met Dr. Noemi. She doesn’t just treat the pain, she treats the emotional root of the pain. It’s almost a hybrid of therapy and acupuncture. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to share with her and things I hadn’t thought about in years came up in our treatments. I never considered that any of this was related to my pain until the pain started to resolve. I feel better than I have in years and I have so much more energy as a result too.

Dr. Noemi is amazing! Her acupuncture treatments reduced my pain and swelling and helped me get back on the trails after my knee surgery. Five stars!
